About
Who writes this, and why
We are Christians. You should know who is talking to you, and a site like this one is easy to mistake for something neutral. It is not. We think Christianity is true, and we would like you to think so too.
We have noticed that most of what people reject about Christianity is something they heard rather than something they examined. They may have heard it from a skeptic, from a teacher in another faith, or from Christians who explained their own beliefs badly. A claim repeated often enough starts to feel settled.
This site takes those claims one at a time. Each page states the claim as its holder would, says what is right about it, and then lays out the evidence that points the other way. We try to argue from ground you already accept: history and reason if you are a skeptic, the Bible if you already trust it, the Qur'an's own words if you are Muslim.
What we ask of ourselves
- State your view so that you would recognize it, and concede what is true in it.
- Quote sources word for word, and list every source a page relies on so you can check it.
- Cite scholars who do not share our faith wherever their work bears on the question.
- Say where an argument stops. Showing that a claim is mistaken is not the same as proving everything Christians believe.
- Never mock you or the people who taught you.
If someone sent you here
They probably care about you and about the question, and they wanted you to see the evidence laid out more carefully than a conversation allows. You do not owe them agreement. We hope you read to the end anyway, and then talk to them about it.
Scripture and sources
Bible quotations are from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), which is in the public domain (Berean Bible terms), unless another translation is named. Where a page quotes a religious organization's teaching, it uses that organization's own published material. Every source is listed on the sources page with a full citation.
